Suniel Shetty is an Indian film actor, producer and entrepreneur (Restaurant business) predominantly active in Bollywood who has acted in more than 110 films. His major works have been action films. Besides Bollywood movies, he has acted in English, Malayalam and Tamil language movies. Shetty won the Filmfare Award for Best Villain in 2001 for Dhadkan.  Shetty also produced films such as Khel- No ordinary Game, Rakht and Bhagam Bhag under the banner of Popcorn Motion Pictures.

He went on to play the protagonist in various successful movies such as Dilwale (1994), Anth (1994), Mohra (1994), Gopi Kishan (1994), Krishna (1996), Sapoot (1996), Raksha (1996), Border (1997), Bhai (1997), Hera Pheri (2000), Dhadkan (2000) Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar(2001), Main Hoon Na (2004) and Red Alert: The War within (2010).[5] In 2014, he changed the spelling of his name from Sunil to Suniel for numerological reasons.

▪ Sunil belongs to a humble Tulu speaking Bunt family background as his father used to clean plates in Worli, Mumbai as he initially worked as a waiter at a restaurant. His father’s boss called his father to manage his new business, and by 1943, his father had bought the whole building.

▪ When film director Raju Mavani wanted to make Balwaan with him, most actresses were wary of working with Sunil and declined the offer as he was a newcomer. But late Divya Bharti agreed to work with him, which proved to be a wise decision as Balwaan became a hit.

▪ The year 1993 to 1994 was the golden phase of his acting career as he gave hits like Anth, Pehchaan and Waqt Hamara Hai, Mohra, and Dilwale.
