Yash Raj Film’s mega action adventure Thugs of Hindostan boasts of breath-taking visuals and scale and was shot in several exotic global locations like Malta and Thailand. In Thailand, the team shot in the rainforests and the picturesque Bora Island but little did they know that it would turn out to be an adventure.

Amitabh Bachchan reveals, “I couldn’t understand Viktor’s philosophy of wanting to go to Thailand to shoot this sequence but he said we found a wonderful location and I want to explore that. I must admit that when I went there and saw the location it was absolutely awe-inspiring. It’s a massive cave, it’s like almost 20 to 30 stories high and it’s difficult to imagine how nature was able to create this. While we were shooting on two or three locations we had visitors without a pass on our location. Huge snakes would suddenly appear out of the rocks. Many times there were little pranks that everyone was playing by throwing rubber snakes.”

Viktor chose a cave on the island to be Khuda Baksh’s (played by Amitabh Bachchan) hideout. But reaching the set was cumbersome for Amitabh Bachchan who had to walk more than half an hour to reach the cave. So, just for him, the team built a palki!

“I had a lot of problems for the final walk. It had a climb, as it was mountainous. I have breathing problems. I tried a couple of times but it was not happening. They generously made a Palki for me, I was lifted and taken to the location looking very regal,” Amitabh Bachchan adds.

Aamir Khan, who plays Firangi Malla in the film, says he was wowed by the location in Thailand. He says, “When I walked in there for the first time, I was taken aback with the beauty of Poda Nui Island. It also felt like a real hideout. It had a massive cave with a huge ceiling and a river flowing through it. It’s a fantastic location.”

With visually grand, immersive experiences and jaw-dropping action sequences, Thugs of Hindostan, co-starring Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh, is set to light up Diwali across India. The film is set to release on November 8, a national holiday, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

We love the song and we are certain that the audiences will love the spirit of freedom in it.”

Both legends learnt sword fighting for the film’s extravagant action sequences
Yash Raj Films Thugs of Hindostan is the most awaited release from Bollywood in a long, long time. It is the biggest visual spectacle on the big screen that boasts of larger than life, never seen before cinematic experience for audiences this Diwali. Having pulled off an incredible casting coup by bringing together two of the biggest legends of Indian cinema – Amitabh Bachchan (who plays the role of the fierce warrior Khudabaksh) and Aamir Khan (the wily and not to be trusted Firangi) on screen for the first time, this film is the biggest release that Bollywood has ever seen.
The film boasts of jaw-dropping action sequences that have been pulled off by both Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan. They had to go through rigorous action training before they shot the intricate and exhaustive action sequences.
Amitabh Bachchan says, “So much before we actually went through these sequences, Viktor and Adi had said maybe you should train a bit. So, we are doing a lot of sword moments in the gym. There is a lot of action whether it is jumping off a building, doing summersaults, diving, climbing up. These were all done live. If you have committed yourself to a project then I guess you have to put aside all apprehensions and challenges and do what is been asked to do.”
Aamir says, “Just before I did Thugs, I did Dangal. Two of us (Fatima and I)  were training for a year and a half in wrestling, and in wrestling the stance is very low.  You bend at the waist and you stand as low as possible. So instinctively, I use to stand low, so they had to try and get that out of me. A lot of initial training went into boxing, kicking, rolling, sword fighting. A lot of that was done which gave us a good foundation for this kind of a film.”
The film also stars Katrina Kaif as the gorgeous performer Suraiyya and Fatima Sana Shaikh as the daredevil Zafira. YRF’s mega action entertainer, Thugs of Hindostan, is set to release on November 8, a national holiday, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
